A hard bitten prizefighter with a terrifying secret, a worn out boxing coach and a beautiful ex-wife exhausted by love. From out of the hotbed of San Francisco’s independent film scene comes HELLHOUND, a true story so brutally unflinching that only one film company in the entire Bay Area could be found with the guts to bring it to life. Written and Directed by Matt George (In God’s Hand’s, Soul Alley, Wind On Water), Hellhound tells the tale of a broken man who possesses a hellish and deadly inner conflict. Rider, a prizefighter who throws fights for a living, arrives in San Francisco having disappeared for over six years after almost losing his life in a bloody boxing match . Quickly bonding old ties with his world weary trainer, the Rider embarks on what seems a strange mission. Training hard for an upcoming fight by day, and by night, engaging in anonymous sexual encounters with young gay men. All the while pineing away for his ex-wife Natalie, the Rider pursues his two seemingly insatiable desires, blood in the ring and a lust by night. Through flashback encounters with Natalie and the terrifying night that snapped his mind two years previous, we slowly come to realize just how sinister the Rider’s new purpose in life really is. Building to a crescendo that involves a brutal illegal boxing match, one last night of wanton sex and the inevitable retribution he suffers for his actions, HELLHOUND examines a tortured man with a deadly inner demon that has vanquished his soul and come out to play in a torrid landscape of life in the time of AIDS. -end- |
